Pediatric evaluation must be comprehensive, starting with handwashing to ensure asepsis. It is necessary to follow an order, beginning with verifying age-appropriate vital signs, including heart rate and respiration through auscultation. Vision is assessed to check for 20/20 acuity. Reflexes, muscle strength, and sensory functions are examined to observe if responses are normal. The skin, extremities, and pulse are inspected to rule out rashes or abnormalities. The nose and mouth are checked, observing mucous membranes and possible allergies. The abdomen should be palpated and auscultated to listen for normoactive bowel sounds. Mobility and coordination are evaluated through specific exercises. A tactile perception test is performed with closed eyes. Finally, the spine and posture are examined to detect possible alterations; all of this helps determine a child's health status and detect potential problems early.
