In classes, we realized that distinguishing the tone of voice employed by the lecturer is crucial to take good annotations, Ex: the chemical element inhabiting meteorites. Sometimes, we can omit important data because we do not know how to differentiate from a tone of voice expressing surprise to a tone of voice entailing bewilderment. Can you please discuss the most common punchy phrases that the speaker utilizes to introduce important information? I mean, what words, phrases, or linking words make you think what you are going to annotate is relevant?

Guys,

I know some of you still face some complications in the listening of the TOEFL IBT. As a matter of fact, we have practiced in classes with complicated audios and sometimes wrong responses have appeared unannounced when supposedly they were correct. With this antecedent, we know that the key to succeeding in the listening section of the TOEFL IBT is in the annotations, but the question is, what to annotate? because we have no too much time to copy every single detail from a lecture. I know that I already formulated this context previously, specifically in week 9, however, now that we have comprehended better what some strategies of listening in the TOEFL are about, you are to discuss as follows: Based on the listening strategies 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the BARRON'S EDITORIAL, what should it be considered as hints to be annotated when a speaker offers a talk?

During classes, we have discussed the multiple interpretations that a response in the TOEFL IBT, either in the reading or in the listening skill, might entail. Some given situations in that exam, according to our academic background, could take us to select wrongly a response, and as a result, our general score in a particular skill would be affected. What can you do in order to apply good interpretations to the given statements? What should it rule in your decisions by the time you select a response in the TOEFL?

Guys,

We know that taking proper annotations in the TOEFL IBT is the key to obtain a good score. However, due to the limited time we have, as test-takers, we are not capable of copying every single detail from a lecture.  In fact, this does not occur even in a real lecture. As students, we are expected to develop a unique system of communication for annotating ideas, that is, symbols or particular annotations which recall us important details from a lecture. My dear students, Can you please describe your system of annotations? I mean, What do you do when you listen to important information from a lecture, but, because of the time, you are not able to copy the whole statement?
