Two months ago, I visited Quilotoa, a beautiful lagoon in the mountains of Ecuador. I went with my cousins for the weekend. We traveled by bus and the trip took around five hours from Quito.
When we arrived, I saw the big green-blue lake inside a volcano. It was very quiet and peaceful. The air was cold, but the sky was clear and sunny. We stayed in a small cabin near the crater.
On Saturday, we walked down to the lagoon. It was a long walk, and going back up was difficult, but the view was amazing. Some tourists were kayaking on the lake. We didn’t try it, but maybe next time we will.
At night, we sat near a fire and drank hot chocolate. There were not many lights, so we could see many stars. It was a special moment.
Quilotoa is perfect for people who love nature and hiking. I really liked the silence, the colors, and the feeling of being far from the city.
