My strategy for preparing for Speaking Task 4 is to identify the purpose of the reading and the lecture. First, I write down the most important ideas from the text. This could be definitions or theories. Then, as I listen, I pay attention to how the teacher supports those ideas with examples or explanations. When it is time to speak, I briefly introduce the topic of the reading and then explain how the teacher's ideas relate to it. I use linking phrases, such as "According to the reading..." or "The reading..." and "This supports the idea that...," to keep my response organized and connected.
