Years ago, I didn’t want to go on this blind date, but my friend had told me she was sweet and full of life, so I agreed. By the time I arrived, she was already smiling and had been waiting at the table for a while. As soon as we met, she gave me a big hug and started holding my hand like we had known each other for years. At first, I was thinking, “This is way too much”, especially since I had been imagining a quiet dinner, not a whirlwind of affection. While we were talking, she kept touching my arm and calling me “cute”, and I couldn’t help but wonder if she had done this on other dates too. However, as she was telling me about her love for people and how she had always believed in showing her feelings, I started to relax. Eventually, I realized I had been judging her too quickly, she wasn’t acting, she was just genuinely kind. By the end of the night, I was laughing while she held my hand again, and I was thinking I hadn’t had a date that warm in years.
