My Failed Literary Adventure

Hi everyone! Today I want to share a little story that started with high hopes, a loving surprise, and ended… well, a bit differently than expected. If you've ever gotten your hands on a book (or a whole saga!) thinking it would change your life only to realize it wasn’t quite your thing this one’s for you.

During the holidays, I wanted to read a lot of books, but I didn't have my favorite ones yet. My mom knocked on the door while I was knitting. She looked surprisingly cheerful, like a kid hiding a secret.

At first, we were just talking about random things, but before long, she leaned closer and whispered with a smile,
"I have been working really hard since last year to finally buy your Twilight Saga books."

I was shocked.
"Oh my gosh, thank you, Mom! Without a doubt, you are the best," I replied.
She looked so proud like a highly respected author handing over her latest novel.

In no time, I began reading them. At first, I was thrilled. The books had good-looking vampires, dramatic love stories, and plenty of suspense.
After a while, though, I started feeling confused. The plot was repetitive, and the characters felt flat. It was like expecting a life-changing meal and getting plain soup.

As time went on, I realized… they were not worth it. They were expensive and, to me, quite boring. Still, I definitely appreciated my mom's effort. Not everyone has a mom who would make that kind of sacrifice.

Perhaps, if I had read them at a younger age, I might have enjoyed them more.
But now I know next time, I’ll choose the books myself.

So that was my failed literary adventure! Have you ever been excited about a book that completely let you down? Or maybe the opposite, a book you didn’t expect to love but totally did? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear about your unexpected reading experiences! 📚✨
