The unexpected trip with friends

Blog by: Henry

I travelled to "Yagüi Urco" during the holidays of my second semester. I went with my university friends, and we had a lot of unexpected and unforgettable moments. In the beginning, we were very excited because we had been saving money to make this trip special and spend it all. Our first stop was Guaranda. We were taking lots of photos while visiting many touristic places.

Before long, we had gotten back on the road, ready to head to Yagüi Urco. After that, we took a long trip to the place. Our main goal was to visit a beautiful viewpoint. The weather throughout the journey was spectacular, and we felt very comfortable. In a matter of hours, we arrived at the viewpoint. However, the place was so cold and foggy. At first, we thought that the weather would change in a short time.

To spend the time while we waited, we went out to walk into the fog. Everything was humid, and we didn’t find anything interesting to do or see. After a while, the weather still hadn’t changed, but we found a swing and started playing on it. Eventually, we waited in the cafeteria. At that moment, we tried to order food, but everything was too expensive. Then, I made a mistake and accidentally ordered two cups of chocolate. From that moment, everything went wrong.

We didn’t want to stay there any longer—it was already dark, and it had turned even colder. We wanted to leave and tried to get a car to return to the bus station. Luckily, someone helped us, but the car was driving very slowly, and everyone was exhausted.

We had been hoping for a smooth ride back, but everything felt tense. When we arrived in Guaranda, we realized it was very late, and we had probably missed the last bus. We were terrified. One of my friends started looking for a hotel to stay in. In no time, we saw the last bus to Riobamba leavingAt that moment, we started running toward it, trying to catch the driver's attention. Finally, it stopped, and we got in. Everyone felt calm again, and we returned to Riobamba. We had been planning this adventure for months, and even with the setbacks, it was an experience we would never forget.
