An Unexpected Rainy Adventure
Initially,I had been anticipating the camping trip for weeks. I imagined warm evenings and a beautiful sunset on the lake since we were planning it. I had checked the weather forecast many times before we left: it had said nothing but sunshine and a gentle breeze. It was the only assurance I needed.
On the morning of the trip, it was all perfect. The sun glared down and my friends were chuckling as we loaded the car up. I had packed my tent, sleeping bag and some snacks the night before.
However, about two hours into our hike to the campsite, the sky started to change. At first, it had just been a few clouds. Shortly after, they grew darker and heavier. My friend Cesar looked up with wide eyes and said, “This wasn’t supposed to happen!” while holding his arms out in disbelief in no time we all stopped and stared at each otherconfused, soaked, and shivering.I had been walking for over an hour with a heavy backpack, and now I could feel the water dripping from my hair down to my neck.
After a while, we found a small wooden shelter. We rushed inside, laughing at how ridiculous we looked. My jeans were clinging to my legs, and my shoes were squishing with every step. As we sat down, we started talking about how we had trusted the forecast too much.
Eventually ,the rain stopped, the sun had already started setting. We didn’t even reach the campsite we set up our tents right there near the shelter. It wasn’t the trip we had imagined, but somehow, it turned into an experience we’d never forget.
