MgS. Mónica Krupskaya Guerra Alvear is a tenured Professor of English as a Foreign Language at the Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo.  She holds a Bachelor's degree in Science Education.  Major: Languages: English, a Superior Diploma in Methodology for Teaching English Language both from Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo as well as a Masters in Distance Education at the Universidad Nacional de Loja.  Professor Guerra wrote a book aimed at students of the sixth level in the career of Biology, Chemistry and Lab as part of Teaching Foreign Languages for Specific Purposes (English) after a process of investigation in the field of methodology of teaching languages, taking into account the needs and interests of students in relation to the foreign language (English) to achieve success and effectiveness in their learning.  As member of the University she has carried out different projects for various society members (English teachers from the province of Chimborazo, soldiers from the Brigada Blindada Galápagos, single mothers with limited resources among others) in order to improve the quality and use of English as a second language.  Her research interests are in English for Specific Purposes (ESP), methodology, new technologies for learning English, assessment, techniques for teaching a foreign language and higher education.  She can be reached at mguerra@unach.edu.ec
