I believe that the importance of being able to identify the relationship between two sources of information in real life academic environments lies in the fact that we can have a deeper understanding of the topic in depth, that is to say that we will have the ability to compare and contrast these factors to be able to understand them better, In addition, as students it increases our ability to identify commonalities and differences, thus increasing our criticality when talking about a topic, not only will we talk about it in a superficial way but with fundamentals and another point in favor is that we are preparing ourselves for both reading and speaking skills and not in isolation so our ability to communicate improves.
An example that I remember is when we had a debate at the university and we had to prepare for it, the fact of combining the written (information from papers about the topic with authors) with audios (videos of interviews of common people talking about the topic) helped us to have a better understanding of the topic in question and to know how to debate critically.
