My last special celebration was Mother’s Day, which we celebrated at home because of Covid-19. My family and I live in the Amazon region, so we decided to prepare a traditional lunch with local ingredients. We made juanes with bijao leaves, cooked cassava, and a refreshing chicha de yuca, which is a fermented drink made from manioc. My grandmother helped us prepare maito de pescado, wrapping the fish in leaves and cooking it over firewood. It was a beautiful day because we all worked together and remembered the importance of family and tradition. In conclusion, Mother's Day was very special during the pandemic, as it helped us connect through food and culture from our Amazonian roots.
