Attending a concert of your favorite artist is like a dream come true, especially if they live in a faraway country. However, if it happened during a pandemic and it is virtual, it could be a bit different and even challenging.
Around three years ago, during the pandemic, I had the most unexpected experience of my life. At the time, I remember that I had read a notice announcing that one of my favorite Korean singers was going to hold his first solo concert, and it was going to be virtual because of the pandemic. At first, I had felt surprised but immediately thought, 'I must buy a ticket to be part of this amazing experience.'
After a short time, a thought came to my mind, a friend had told me about a similar concert she had watched, where fans even interacted with the artist. Although in this case, that would not happen because it would be more like a movie on stage, but that did not change my mind, I was secure in my decision.
Some days later, my friend and I had bought the online ticket one week before the concert, and before we knew it, the day arrived. On December 12, 2021, at 2:30 PM KST, which was 00:30 AM in Ecuador because of the time difference, I turned on my computer, logged the website, and waited at 1 AM when the live concert started.
Unfortunately, the internet connection made it a bit challenging, but I tried to enjoy every moment. After all, even with the technical issues, it was worth it. I felt as if I were there singing along to all the songs with him. I can say that I had imagined what it could be, although it was more than I expected. The performance felt like watching a live movie with holograms, stunning visuals, and perfect choreography. Every stage had its unique concept, and the variety of modern style with traditional elements made the concert feel artistic and emotional.
Looking back, I remember the virtual concert as an unforgettable experience. It made me think about how creative people can be in situations like the pandemic.
