To have consistent arguments is to learn to express ideas clearly and to detect errors in reasoning. It is better to use simple and direct language to make it easier for others to understand what we mean. Definitions help to avoid confusion by indicating exactly what we mean by certain words. Sometimes emotional language can make things sound more convincing than they really are, which can alter our thinking. It is also important to recognize common mistakes, such as using information that doesn't matter or not having enough evidence. Breaking down arguments helps to break them down visually. Summarizing and paraphrasing long arguments makes them easier to understand.
